I. Dream

For the adventurous traveler who walks at his own rhythm, the Dream program is our room-and-breakfast alternative. Once you arrive at the hotel if you want, one of our Naturalists Guides will help you organize an itinerary catering to your interests.

The ideal program for the discerning guest who appreciates having everything at their fingertips. It includes room and all three meals, one full day excursion with one of our guided tours for every night of the stay, and an Astronomy lesson in our private observatory.

This exclusive program is ideal for those who want an ultra-personalized, custom-designed stay alongside a private Naturalist/Guide. Includes room and all three meals a-la-carte. Daily excursions with a private vehicle and dedicated guide and an Astronomy lesson from Alto Atacama’s private telescope.

Experience a challenging bike ride through canyons and sand dunes, a strenuous hike through volcanoes and mountain ranges, or a relaxing picturesque sunset on Tebequinche Lagoon. Whether by foot, bike, or vehicle, we promise you the desert adventure of a lifetime.
WALKING AND OBSERVATION
Traverse mesas and slot canyons and roam through millions of years of earth’s history while you unearth miles of raw, untouched wilderness. Discover the Salar of Atacama, a mountain range and salt lagoon where flamingos fly across the colorful and open skies or explore the Valle de La Luna, “Moon Valley,” one of the most bewildering natural landscapes in the world. Navigating the rock formations, peaks, and canyons is an intimate encounter with nature unlike any other.
CULTURAL
Learn about the ancient culture of the Licanantay, the earliest inhabitants of the desert who lived here over 2,400 years ago, as you unearth ancient petroglyphs with animal figures emblazoned on rock walls. Visit the ancient hilltop fortress of the Pucara de Quitor, retracing the steps of ancient traders who crossed the Altiplano highlands and the mountains to sell goods on the coast. Stroll the beautiful town of San Pedro de Atacama, where the mark of the Spanish conquistadors is still visible in the compact plazas and whitewashed churches.
ON PROPERTY: STAR-GAZING
The Atacama Desert is known as one of the best places on earth for stargazing. At Alto Atacama, we have no artificial light pollution at night, and the glittering stars and constellations are visible to the naked eye. Visit our viewpoint, Ckepi (eye in the Kunza language), where our professional telescope allows you to enjoy a deeper evening of stargazing alone or with the instruction of our expert guides. The night sky transforms throughout the year, so depending on the time of your visit, you may have a clear view of the moon’s craters, or of hundreds of constellations and nebulae.
